Last Sunday we went into town to buy a few things for our holiday, and I couldn’t resist the temptation of new books! (who can?) I felt like I hardly had any new fantasy stories on my bookshelf, so a day out in town was a great excuse for me to search Waterstones. I’ve got quite a few books which I want to read now, and with all these summer reading lists popping up everywhere I thought I’d do my own! That it’ll help me keep track of what I have yet to read also can’t hurt.
Here are all the books I want to get through (although, not necessarily this summer!) :
by Meka James
Fiendish was recommended to me by a friend with a similar taste in books as me, so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s the book I’m currently reading (See? I’m well into my reading list!), and so far it hasn’t disappointed! It’s about a guy who kidnaps women and tortures them, and a woman who falls head-over-heels in love with him, mistaking him for a perfect gentleman. A role he plays very well to lure in his ‘pets’.
It’s been a great read so far, and I’m looking forward to reading more of it!
by Karen Miller
Karen Miller is one of my favourite authors of all time, so buying her newest novel didn’t take any consideration-time at all. I saw that it was out, and bought it. I can’t wait to dive into this one, and know that I will love every last letter in this book!
by K. J. Chapman
I admit, I don’t know much about this book other than that my dear blogging-friend K. Chapman has written it. We seem to have a very similar taste in books, so buying this was a no-brainer.
by Neil Gaiman
Again I must admit that I don’t actually know much about this book. It’s very hard these days to browse a book store for new fantasy books to read and not notice the name Neil Gaiman pop up everywhere you turn! The last time we bought some books for our kindle my boyfriend suggested this one to me because he knows that I’ve wanted to read something by Gaiman for a while, and now it’s on my reading list! I’ll finally know what all the fuss is about!
by Melinda Snodgrass
“This has swords and pissing off religious people, it sounds like your kind of book!” My boyfriend knows how to sell books to me. I trust his judgement, and the blurb on the book sounded quite interesting, so I decided to give it a shot. Plus, it’s a series. I like starting a new series, because if I then like the first book I have more to read afterwards!
by Terry Brooks
I meant every word I just said about series! Crouching on the floor of Waterstones yesterday trying to figure out which order these were supposed to be in was made a bit easier when I spotted this whole trilogy, in one book. A whole trilogy! In one book! What’s not to love? It was hard not to notice all these titles with his name on them – so much promise if I like this first book! I also really like trilogies for some reason. They speak to me, and this was asking me to add it to my reading list.
So these are my eight books for this summer/year. What’s on your reading list? Are there any fantasy books (preferably series, as we’ve just established) which you’d recommend?
