Reading List 2016

Ever since I got myself a Goodreads account my to-be-read pile has grown considerably! I’ve read some great books last year and am looking forward to slowly getting through (and no doubt adding more) some of them this year

In no specific order, here are some of the ones I’m most excited about-

The Third Kingdom, Severed Souls, Warheart

TG2

I’ve read the previous 14 books and I’ll be damned if I don’t finish this most awesome of awesome series! I’ve already made a start on The Third Kingdom half-way through December, but might mix it up a bit. I finished The Third Kingdom just before Christmas and haven’t decided what to read next yet, whether I’l continue with Severed Souls or read something different. We’ll see. Either way, I’ll be done by Easter.

Gambit

Reads2016

I’v heard a lot of good things about this and many promises that this’ll be the best thing I’ve ever read, so I can’t wait to finally get around to it.

Six of Crows

Reads2016.2

I really want to see what all the hype is about! Was about? Doesn’t matter, I saw enough praise and the blurb was great enough for me to be sold.

The Near Witch, A Darker Shade of Magic

Reads2016.3 A Darker Shade final for Irene

I’ve been meaning to read a book by V.E. Schwab for a little while now and this year is the year I do it!

The Caves of Steel

Reads2016.5

End of November/Beginning of December I asked on twitter for some sci-fi recommendations since I want to start reading more of it, and this popped up pretty quickly. I’m familiar with the name and the Laws of Robotics, so how I haven’t read this before is a mystery to me!

Consider Phlebas

Reads2016.6

This one was also recommended to me via twitter, in response to the same tweet for help. It sounds amazing so I can’t wait to start reading.

And then there are all those other books I really want to read as well.

Now my only problem is deciding where to start. I think I’ll just pop them all into a hat and draw names.

What are your must-reads for 2016? Are there any other booksΒ you think I can’t go without?

  1. I have the first two books in Goodkind’s Sword of Truth series but have yet to read it. I’ve heard mixed things about it. It seems that you enjoyed it πŸ˜‰ I’ll have to give it a try now for sure. Otherwise, I also want to get into some Leigh Bardugo this year. I keep hearing fantastic things! Enjoy your reads πŸ™‚

    • I did! Although I would give you a mixed review, too. The characters lost their smarts after Confessor and it got repetetive, but you’re a long way off that so just see if you enjoy the first two πŸ™‚ I’d love to see what you think when you read it, I really loved the first book πŸ™‚ Goodkind himself said to stop reading after Confessor if you want to believe that there’s a happy ending, so you may never get to where I am now if you’d rather not πŸ™‚ It is a believable ending, too, I had no idea there was more until months later!

      • Thanks for the suggestion πŸ™‚
I’ll be sure to let you know when I get to it. I’m hoping to this year, but that might only be over the summer.
Just curious: have you watched Legend of the Seeker?

      • Funny you should ask, my SO actually gifted me the box set for Christmas! We’ve started watching and while I like seeing what they’ve done with my favourite characters I’m not sure I’d recommend it. It’s okay, but it’s very low budget and that camera man is fidgety as anything. A lot of things have been left out and we’re only up to episode 5! They only made two seasons (given how many books there are this should tell you plenty) and I’d say it’s for good reason. I like watching it out of curiosity and because I’ve read the books, but I doubt I’d have continued watching it if I wasn’t familiar with the books.
I feel you, this time last year my reading list was nonexistent whereas now I’ve got a long list on Goodreads! I don’t think I’ll ever run out of books to read ever again. So no rush, read when you have the time πŸ™‚

  2. A Darker Shade of Magic is marvellous and I’ll get to Six of Crows any day now πŸ™‚ Looking forward to hearing what you think of them!
