Infernal Ties

Lucky me received an ARC of Holly Evans’ newest novella, Infernal Ties! I’ve been looking forward to reading it for a while, so when this arrived in my inbox it changed my reading plans a little. It’s a very fast read so I’m nearly done with it already despite only just having started it.

It’s an exciting prequel to the series which will begin later this year. My full review will follow next week Thursday πŸ™‚

Blurb:

The Hawke twins are hunters. They keep the supernal community of Prague in line, and they’re good at it. The witches whisper their names when something goes bump in the night, and the lycans tell stories of them to make their cubs behave. When Quin doesn’t come home after what should have been a quick rogue-disposal, Evie begins to worry.

Evelyn Hawke is a force to be reckoned with. Nothing and no one will stop her from getting her twin back. She’ll do whatever it takes, even dive into the supernal world and work with those she despises to find Quin and dig him out of the very large hole he’s got himself into.

Little does she know the far-reaching consequences of her actions.

Six of Crows

Six of Crows was one of my first tbr-list additions on Goodreads nearly a year ago, so I figured it’s about time I read this! I was worried it got over-hyped for me because when I first came across it peopleΒ were shouting it from the rooftops, but fortunately that wasn’t the case. It was a fantastic read with incredible world building and amazing characters (Why am I even telling you this? You already know this! If you’re as late to it as I was, read it NOW!), and has left me excited for Book 2. My review shall follow tomorrow πŸ™‚

Blurb:

Ketterdam: a bustling hub of international trade where anything can be had for the right priceβ€”and no one knows that better than criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker. Kaz is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. But he can’t pull it off alone…

A convict with a thirst for revenge.

A sharpshooter who can’t walk away from a wager.

A runaway with a privileged past.

A spy known as the Wraith.

A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums.

A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes.

Kaz’s crew are the only ones who might stand between the world and destructionβ€”if they don’t kill each other first.

What I think I’ll read next

WWW040516.4The 5th Wave

No change here! Since my ARC of Infernal Ties arrived I’ve had to push this back a little, but I’ll read it next time – I’m fairly sure that I’m not waiting for any other free books at the moment… And since I’m very nearly done with Infernal Ties now, I’ll likely start this tomorrow if not today todayΒ πŸ™‚

Blurb:

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother-or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

    • It really was <3 Idiots indeed! Live and learn, eh? Or, erm.. Learn for your remaining two seconds before he kills you?

  1. I loved Six of Crows but it did take me a little while to get into it due to the number of characters. I have the next book pre ordered already.

    • I don’t mind the number of characters – the more the merrier! – but most of them being introduced in one chapter was a wee bit overwhelming. I wish she’d spread it out a little, but since I love all six of them I can’t really complain ^^
Thanks for the reminder, I’ll need to pre order it later! ^-^

      • I’m never good with multiple pov’s as I almost always have a favourite character and there chapters are the only ones I want to read. Six of Crows could be the exception though as by the end I don’t think there was anyone I didn’t love

    • I just finished it this morning and can definitely recommend it ^^ My review for it will be out tomorrow, keep an eye out πŸ™‚
Phew! I’m relieved to hear it! πŸ˜€

    • It was really good, I can definitely recommend it ^-^
Heading over to yours now πŸ™‚

    • Thank you! I had to push it back a little so it’ll be out in two weeks time instead πŸ™‚
Heading over to yours now! πŸ™‚

  2. I really need to read six of crows! Everyone’s raved about how amazing it is. I look forward to your review of it 😁

    • You should! I think you’d enjoy it quite a lot ^^ The review will be out in two weeks time now since this ARC review forced its way to the front πŸ˜‰

  3. Hunter twins? That sounds so cool! I haven’t read Six of Crows yet, but I will get it sooooon, I am so curious because everyone seems to agree on the fact it is awesome.
    Happy reading!

    • It really is! I’m looking forward to seeing the twins in action together in Book 2 since Infernal Ties was mostly Evie trying to find Quin. It’ll be interesting to see how they work together.
Don’t look it up on Goodreads, there are bound to be some negative reviews on there that would spoil it πŸ˜›

    • I did, I’m really excited for the sequel now and will definitely pick up her Grisha trilogy as well at some point <3 Have you read any of them?

Heading over to yours now πŸ™‚

      • I haven’t. I heard they aren’t quite as good as Six of Crows, but still worth the read. πŸ™‚

  4. Sam Sam

I watched the 5th Wave movie with my husband who read the book and he said it’s pretty close until the end. I hope you enjoy the book. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

    • That’s good to hear! I’m not quite 100 pages into it yet but definitely want to see the movie after. I’m really enjoying it.

My pleasure, Sam! Happy reading! ^-^

  5. I always am worried about overly hyped books for the same reason. I haven’t read Six of Crows yet, either. Happy reading!

    • I hope you enjoy it if you read it, it was a good book – and I waited long enough for the hype to die down! πŸ™‚ Happy reading!

  6. I’m glad to hear that you enjoyed Six of Crows. It’s one of the books on my TBR and the more I hear about it, the more excited I get to finally dive into it! I see that you’re review’s up for Infernal Ties! I can’t wait to see what you thought about it!
    Happy Reading πŸ™‚

    • I did! I wasn’t sure what to expect because I didn’t think it’d be my kind of book, but as it turns out it’s exactly my kind of book πŸ™‚ I hope you enjoy it when you get to it πŸ™‚
It is, I moved it forwards a little and pushed Six of Crows’ review back so I could have it out before the release πŸ™‚
      Happy reading! ^-^
