It’s been a busy week! Although, this update may not look like it since it’s so short 🙂
Since last week’s word count was nonexistent, I was determined to make up for it this week and I dare say I did! 😉 This week’s count is 5,920, which brings the current total to:
Not too shabby! ^-^ It’s my highest weekly word count in a while, so it definitely feels like progress is being made.
Speaking of which… Somehow, it’s July now and half this year has gone already, which means that on Sunday in two weeks, my parents are coming to visit. I probably won’t get too much writing done while they are here, but I’d like to reach the midway point before then so I can really enjoy my break! Since this would mean nearly 20K I’m not sure how realistic I’m being, but for now I’ll set it as my target.
Now, to the excerpt! As my draft progressed it got difficult finding sections I could share with you without spoiling anything, so here’s what we’re going to do: Every character has been given a nickname, and since I don’t have many male characters in the story at the moment a few of them are unisex 😉 Also, I’ll be referring to everyone as she, regardless of their gender. The names were chosen at random from my book of baby names – there’s no secret code attached to any of them which might tell you who’s who, so don’t bother trying to figure it out ^-^ This way I can share what’s happening with you without giving too much away. I hope it won’t get too confusing.
Have a great weekend, everyone! ^-^
Morgan had withstood many poisons over the last few years, and had believed herself to possess a small immunity from her previous encounters. Now she realised how foolish that belief had been.
The corridor she was in was dark, and abandoned. If she could just lift her arm to the window, perhaps someone would see it in passing.
But she didn’t have enough strength left, and her arm fell loosely to her side. The floor was cool against her burning body. When had she sat down? Everything was swimming before her eyes.
Then everything turned black, and she thought she could hear Alex laughing at her victory.
