What I’m currently reading

30114300Infernal Bonds

Evans was so kind as to send me an ARC of this novel, which is also the sequel to my last read, Infernal Ties. I’ll reserve my review for when I’ve finished reading it, which should be very soon, but will say that it’s a great sequel which had everything I hoped for after finishing the prequel. It’s been a fast and exciting read, and the full review should be up next week Thursday ( I still need to post my review of Six of Crows! Keep an eye out for that tomorrow…)

Not only is it a blood moon, but thereโ€™s a rare celestial alignment that means the veils between the worlds are much more fragile than usual. That allows chaos to reign over the city for one night. Shades play pranks on tourists, redcaps take advantage and run wild, and two sinfully sexy hellhounds slip through.

The redcaps are easily wrangled, the shades are mildly amusing, but the hellhounds are another thing entirely. They evade capture and remain in the city once the moon sets. Two hounds, with two entirely different agendas. One wants freedom. The other wants to bring about Hell on Earth. And he has help.

WWW040516.4The 5th Wave

I’m not used to reading two books at once, but I think I’m doing okay! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m nearly done with The 5th Wave, too, and have really enjoyed it. I don’t think I’m in a rush to read the sequel just yet, but with my ever-growing tbr pile that’s probably a good thing.

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother-or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

What I recently finished reading

WWW 29062016.2Infernal Ties

Infernal Ties is the series opener to Evans’ debut series, Infernal Hunt. Because I finished it so close to the last WWW post I feel like it’s been a while, so I’ll keep this short and refer you to the review I wrote ๐Ÿ™‚ If you don’t fancy reading that right now or ever, know that I highly recommend it if you enjoy urban fiction! This series is set in the beautiful Prague, which makes for a very scenic setting.

The Hawke twins are hunters. They keep the supernal community of Prague in line, and theyโ€™re good at it. The witches whisper their names when something goes bump in the night, and the lycans tell stories of them to make their cubs behave. When Quin doesnโ€™t come home after what should have been a quick rogue-disposal, Evie begins to worry.

Evelyn Hawke is a force to be reckoned with. Nothing and no one will stop her from getting her twin back. Sheโ€™ll do whatever it takes, even dive into the supernal world and work with those she despises to find Quin and dig him out of the very large hole heโ€™s got himself into.

Little does she know the far-reaching consequences of her actions.

What I think I’ll read next

I’m going to be very noncommittal this week. I do think I’ve chosen but I’ve just ordered some new books yesterday and want to stare at my tbr pile for a while before picking one ๐Ÿ™‚

Have you read any of these and would like to chat about it? I look forward to hearing from you if you do – just leave a comment below and we can get this book club started!

    • Isn’t that true for every book? ๐Ÿ™‚ I did see some bad reviews for it, too, but I also saw some truly awful ones for The Name of the Wind! Some people are just so picky ๐Ÿ˜› As you said, you can’t please everyone ^-^ I’m done with The 5th Wave now so I’ll be writing my review tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

      Heading over to yours now!

    • I can only recommend them ๐Ÿ™‚ If urban fantasy is your thing, that is ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Sam Sam

I hope you’re able to finish The 5th Wave soon. My husband really enjoyed it. Happy reading and thanks for participating in WWW Wednesday!

    • I finished it on Wednesday, actually ๐Ÿ™‚ It’ll be a few weeks before the review is up, though, I’ve got some catching up to do on my reviews.

  2. Infernal Bonds was a great follow-up! Definitely fast-paced. Can’t wait to read your review of it! I can’t say that I’m tempted by the 5th Wave; I think I’m starting to tire of the YA dystopian novels ;P
    Oh well!
    Happy Reading ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Might be time to read a different genre for a book or two ^-^ My review should be up next week Thursday, I just need to find the time to write it ๐Ÿ™‚
      Happy reading!

      • I’ve fallen behind on my reviews. I have three to write. I hope to get them done this week…

Get a tea and a cookie, and let's chat!
