June Goals

Hoo boy I LOVE sharing my goals with you two days before the post is meant to publish and I’ve done fudge all thinking about it!* Every month this year has sneaked up on me. How’s a girl supposed to work like that?**

Even without being prepared I can tell you June will be busy. Let’s take a look at how bad it’s going to be:

*Memo to self: get shit together in June.
**Did I mention I keep forgetting to buy new tea? I’m almost out and I’ve got no backup *shakes from fear and caffeine*

You may notice that there’s no banner. The usb socket on my computer just…kinda…collapsed? So I couldn’t get to my templates. And you know why that’s a problem? Because this girl wasn’t prepared.

Ugh.

Anyway, it’s just a banner, it doesn’t matter. At least I didn’t forget to post.

Anyway.

Moving on.*

*Why yes, I am mildly annoyed with myself.

Darkened Light

My betas are tearing through it and so far the feedback is overwhelmingly positive :O Fuck knows how that happened but I’m pleased with it*.

Later this month, I’ll send it back to my editor for its final proofread and then I’ll FINALLY be able to make it available for my review team! These guys have been so patient, I love them so much.

*Read: I’m already worried I won’t be able to write another book as good as Darkened Light ever again and this ismeatmybestand *breathes into paperback* ITS FINE**
** Can you tell it’s been a slightly panicky week over here?

Relics of Ar’Zac

I want to make progress on Blood of the Dragon, of course, but honestly? I just want to get this bloody prequel written so I can move on and never look at it again*.

I’m finally making progress on the prequel, btw. I’m 5k in, and given it’ll only be around 25k when it’s finished that’s me a fourth of the way there :O

I had a couple of title ideas but it’s not there yet. I’m still waiting for the one. Both ideas I had while I was writing, so I’m hoping it’s that kind of book where the title just happens to me. Eventually.

I’m ready for it, please.

All being well, I’ll be able to share the title with you at the end of June, but no promises. Me and titles don’t get along.

*HAHAHAHAHA that’s how authoring works, yes? You write a first draft and that’s it? YES? Nobody correct me.

Camp NaNo

Is anyone else stupidly excited that the July camp is only a month away?

My project will be Blood Song (Blood Wisp #2). If there’s time, I might also squeeze the first words of Blood Vow (Blood Wisp #3) into July.

BUT I’ll need to prepare both first. Blood Wisp has set them up nicely, and I can’t wait to get back to them. GUESS WHO PLOTTED BOTH YESTERDAY

ON THE LAST DAY OF MAY

MAY RULED*

I’m so in love with this series <3

If anyone’s interested, I’ll be hosting another cabin for July πŸ˜‰ Let me know when you’ve signed up and declared a project, and I’ll invite you once I’ve created a cabin.

*Wow, I’m so ready for June to be quieter!

CookieBreak

The final post in the series on self-publishing goes live in two weeks. This was the last series I planned over a year ago, and I’ve got a much clearer vision for what I want CookieBreak to be now.

After the final post on self-publishing, I’ve got one more post lined up to add to my resource page, but then? I’ve got a few ideas, but I haven’t scheduled anything yet.

I’ve been so busy with blogging for the last few years – and in recent weeks I’ve felt like I kept falling behind – that it’ll be nice to have a little less scheduled for a bit.

It might be time to wind things down a little. Once All that I Can Be is finished, I’ve got no more writing prompts lined up which will take a lot of pressure off me.

But I don’t want CookieBreak to primarily be WWW Wednesdays and book reviews, either, so I may need to think of something.

I’ll have a better idea of what’ll happen here by the end of June <3 CookieBreak won’t go anywhere, of course, but I want to focus on my business, so there’ll likely be less content. How much less remains to be seen.

What are your goals for June? Hands up if you’ll be prepping for NaNo! TWO hands up if you’d like to joining my cabin so I can keep a tally! Make a tea, open a pack of cookies, and talk goals to me!

  1. You definitely sound like you’re going to be super busy! I’m excited for Camp NaNo, but I have no idea what project I’m going to work on. Definitely some editing project, but I just don’t know which one. It’s great to hear that your beta readers are loving your book! <3

      I do, don’t I? Damn it πŸ˜›
Let me know if you’d like to join my cabin again, I’ll need to invite you πŸ™‚

You may need to remind me of your username πŸ˜› Let me know when you’ve declared a project – I can’t invite you before then πŸ™‚

Is there still time to join your cabin?

I remembered what you said to me before in a previous correspondance about any words written down was a success for Nanowrimo – the advice has practically jumped about in my head every time I’ve considered not doing NaNowrimo. So thank you so much. :

Congratulations on your beta feedback AND starting the prequel! Do you mind if I ask, but have you found any challenges you’ve had to overcome by writing a prequel? They’ve always fascinated me for some reason.

Anyway, I’ve droned on long enough, have a great week, Sarina! πŸ™‚

There is! I haven’t created it yet (haven’t received an email from the NaNo guys yet that we can create cabins), but I’m happy to take your username for the NaNo website πŸ™‚

I’m so happy to hear that! My last cabin was full of positivity, so there’s plenty more motivation πŸ™‚

Thank you! No challenges yet, I’m as fascinated by prequels as you are πŸ™‚ Although, there’s one thing I said in Book 1 which needs to be in the prequel, and I need to think of a way to explain why I was an idiot and shouldn’t have included it in Book 1 without sounding like I fucked up. It’s not a big issue but still something I could have done without! πŸ™‚ Overall, though, I love writing it.

      Have a great week, Peter!
